Timing is Everything!

We started with humble beginnings, a business loan, and a franchise system - opening our doors just before the start of the Great Recession.
The Financial Crisis of 2007-2008, the Subprime Mortgage Crisis of 2007-2009 was devastating for many.  NOT A GOOD TIME TO START A BUSINESS (or was it?)

THIS TAUGHT US TO BE RESILIENT.
Here we were making phone calls to companies about their hiring needs - while companies were down-sizing, laying-off, merging or simply closing their doors.  So, what did we do? We "burned our boats".  We couldn't go back.  We had to forge ahead.  We came in every day and continued to make calls.

By October 2009, Unemployment hit 10% in some states, and here we were still calling companies to introduce our Top Talent.  

THIS TAUGHT US TO BE CREATIVE.  
In 2009, we introduce Bauer On-Demand, our Sourcing, Screening, and Qualifying solution that eliminates the permanent placement fees charged by traditional agencies.  Bauer On-Demand gives clients unlimited recruiting and hiring ability at a fraction of the cost.

Then the Market Changed!

Due to the financial condition, geopolitical changes, technological advances, baby-boomers retiring, and millennials entering the workforce - the workplace became very different. People want work-life balance (which basically means they don't want to work so much).

Companies are competing for a smaller skilled workforce, so Supply and Demand has tipped the scales - in favor of the worker.  It is a Candidate-driven market.  Job Seekers have choices.  Companies are offering more money and greater benefits and flexible schedules - just to make a hire.

THIS TAUGHT US TO BE FLEXIBLE.  
We became Generalist.  Whatever the customer needed.  Whatever the customer wanted. Listen to the Customer.  After all, the customer is always right - until they are Wrong.

THIS TAUGHT US TO FOCUS.
So, we narrowed our industry specialties: closed our healthcare desk, technology desk, and banking desk - and we became laser-focused on Manufacturing  and Food Processing .  But still, sometimes, customers do not know exactly what they want.  Since there is no-risk for them, they will engage you to work on their open position.  However, as a Contingency recruiter - you are working for free until they hire your candidate.  

THIS TAUGHT US TO PRIORITIZE.
We introduced our Priority Engaged Search  process.  This recruitment solution requires a small deposit up front, and the balance when the candidate is hired. Not only did it show us which customers were serious about hiring - it improved our recruitment success rate to 98%.

Then, the Market Changed, Again

Now, the Gen-X and Gen-Y age groups are in a position to hire people.  They may be in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Internal Recruiters, or Hiring Managers.  And they communicate very differently.  No phone calls and not so many e-mails - and definitely no written correspondence (they call that snail-mail).

Today's communication involves some texting, instant messaging, social media, swiping, a lot of emojis, and anything that involves the use of a smart phone. It is where the economy intersects with technology.
